Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom is located in the picturesque region of Sterkfontein in the heart of the Cradle of Mankind. This could not be more idyllic as you will be releasing your inner medieval barbarian at the King’s scrumptious feast!

It must be said right off the bat, Greensleeves is so much more than a ‘fancy dress’ dinner! It’s a completely immersive experience! Day visitors can enjoy Greensleeves’ picture-perfect, Instagram worth grounds! It will leave you feeling like you’ve been transported to a simpler time!

When your hunger kicks visit the onsite Baron Deli. This is a modern restaurant serving up the most mouthwatering farm-to-fork organic cuisine where the ingredients have been sourced from the surrounding farmers! The Deli’s board menu selection includes the likes of gourmet breakfasts, sweet and savoury waffles, juicy steaks, and burgers as well as their legendary wood-fired thin-crust pizzas to name a few!

The Deli’s seating offers panoramic views of the ground which boast multiple picnic areas. As well as two sparkling swimming pools (this also makes keeping an eye on your little ones a breeze). No costs have been spared ensuring all guests (including those not attending the King’s Medieval feast) receive all the bells and whistles making a trip to Greensleeves an unforgettable experience!

AMBIANCE & ATMOSPHERE: 5-STARS

The energy and vibe of the entire evening and experience is indescribable. The excitement and buzz that starts in Merlin’s custom hire is just the start of the events that unfold throughout the King’s Feast. There is a highly enjoyable and constant feeling of anticipation, excitement, and merrymaking amongst the guests!

STAFF & MANAGEMENt: 5-STARS

The entire team at Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom do not consider world-class customer service a chore, they embrace it as a passion and lifestyle! Saying you are treated like royalty would not be an over-exaggeration. If anything, it would be an understatement!

On arrival, our greetings were warm and welcoming. The accommodation check-in process was seamless!

Regardless if you are dealing with the owners, management, servers or the turndown and cleaning staff you are made to feel comfortable and extremely welcomed! The staff’s knowledge is unmatched and their willingness to go the extra mile to assist you is beyond compare to anything we have experienced before!

Not to mention that most of their staff have been at Greensleeves for close to two decades, which just speaks for itself on the kind of atmosphere you can expect!

Andrew, the owner, brings a personal touch by engaging with the guests. His in-depth knowledge of the era and passion is unparalleled! Resulting in your experience and stay being truly special and highly memorable!

Don’t even get us started on the phenomenal team of master chefs, but more on them later.

THE KINGS FEAST: 5-STARS

Located in the belly of the castle is the banquet hall where the true magic of the King’s Feast comes to life! You will be visually transported to Medieval times. Trust us when we say that your pallet is going to be taken on an adventure of a lifetime!

The King’s Banquet Hall is aesthetically a feature to behold and nothing less than a design and decor masterpiece! With era-specific art, suits of armour, wall-mounted weaponry, and family banner flags, it truly is stunning! They have created a truly wonderful and unique dining experience and venue! Included in the King’s Feast is a bounty of never-ending deliciousness which included:

Mead (aka) honey wine

Many different varieties of mead were made in medieval England, and some were thought to have medicinal properties. Such as being able to cure melancholy and hypochondria. Unfortunately, not to cure a king-sized babalas!

Horse breed (aka) Wood-fired Medieval Flatbread
Served warm with glazed melted butter and sprinkled with herbs and spices!

Peasant Soup
Don’t let the name fool you! There was nothing peasant about this soup! Made with fresh locally sourced organic vegetables and mixed grains! If we could, we would fill a pool with this soup!

The King’s Feast
OMG, hands down this was by far the best meal accompanied by an experience that we have ever had! Melt in your mouth, juicy roast beef. Succulent and unbelievably tender whole roasted chicken, golden fried crispy yet fluffy roast potatoes, vibrant string beans and perfectly roasted pumpkin. All served with a rich velvety smooth gravy! Just be prepared to get your hands dirty

because you are not going to be able to resist the urge to keep on grabbing and devouring this endless bounty of delectable and flavoursome offerings!

Cookies & Ice-cream

Again, this is not your standard cookies and ice cream. You’re served a warm freshly baked melt-in-your-mouth biscuit, topped with homemade vanilla ice cream drizzled with a fresh berry compote.

Excluding the atmosphere, venue and entertainment, the meal served alone would be worth every single cent spent! YES, IT’S THAT’S GOOD!

They cater for vegetarians, vegans, pescatarians and halaal diets (just make sure to inquire beforehand).

THE ENTERTAINEMENT: 5-STARS

As we mentioned, Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom is so much more than a fancy-dress diner. In fact, it is a full-on theatrical performance comprising of lighting, comedy and audience participation! The evening events and entertainment are hosted by the charismatic and animated MC ‘The Baron’. We do not want to give too much away about what can be expected, but what we can say is brace yourself for an evening jam-packed with light-hearted humour, laughter, drama, suspense, and non-stop FUN!!!!!

Once the evening festivities have come to an end, the dance floor is opened, and the resident DJ gets the guests on their feet dancing the night away! So, make sure to bring your dancing shoes!

ACCOMMODATION: 5-STARS

Best of all… If you don’t feel like heading home afterwards, they have stunning accommodation that is sure to be the cherry on top of your once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Situated mere meters from the Kings Banquet Hall, was our well-equipped, extra comfortable room! Don’t worry, the rooms are NOT medieval and are fitted with all the modern amenities you would expect. Including a mini bar fridge, room service as well as a turndown service!

As a bonus, there are a few extra surprises that we will leave for you to find!

The bedding was ultra-luxurious and the bed itself comfortable beyond belief. Bottled bedside water was also a welcomed surprise! Minimalist decor, which was super refreshing to us, as it allowed us to take in the beauty of our surroundings from the private porch!

Our only criticism would be that their 5-star customer service makes it almost impossible to leave. But when you have to leave, you will not only leave with the luggage you arrived with, but you will also leave with amazing memories!
