The Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre is without a doubt an establishment worth celebrating and well-deserving of its accolades!

Their incredible and truly unique gin school experience is also a must-try! Not to even mention their picture-perfect, breathtaking grounds and guest satisfaction excentric service!
The Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre is located on the borders of both the picturesque suburbs of Sandton and Fourways which lies in the vibrant heart of Johannesburg North! By no means is the Indaba your run-off-the-mill hotel. It would be best described as an all-inclusive luxury experience destination that caters to the needs of the most distinguished travellers, holidaymakers, foodies, day spa visitors and governmental and business guests.
Their one-of-a-kind Instagram-worthy location highlights the area’s indigenous flora and fauna with awe-inspiring views in all directions! The architectural design is both rustic and charming which is perfectly complemented by their tranquil landscaping.
On the other side of the coin, all of their world-class cutting-edge facilities and amenities offer the same comforts that you would expect to find in an ultra-modern, state-of-the-art hotel, spa and business centre!
If you’re a foodie at heart you can expect a gastronomic taste sensation that would rival any Michelin star restaurant! The Indaba offers a selection of three unique and equally exquisite restaurants catering for the traveller who is looking for a quick bite as well as those requiring a more relaxed, comprehensive and curated dining experience!
For guests looking to relax in the conform of their splendid suites, a full room service menu is also available.
On the topic of their suites, this is not your home away from home experience. It’s better! Their accommodation offerings are superlative! The greatest attention to detail has been given to comfort and convenience with no costs spared on the finishes and amenities!
The Mowana Day Spa is a hidden treasure and a paradise of tranquillity and relaxation! On arrival, you are instantly transported to a utopian world of bubbling brooks, sparkling pools and views of nature leaving you breathless. With a plethora of packages and treatments to choose from you can rest assured you will leave feeling rejuvenated and revitalised. Should you build up an appetite while enjoying your treatment you can look forward to enjoying their delectable high tea which is served in their on-site – and elegant – restaurant!
The cherry on the top has got to be the Indaba’s in-house Gin School! This truly unique experience is educational, fun and interactive. With a wide selection of ‘classes’ to attend including food pairing which forms part of the Gin Sensorium. It is a MUST DO!
Considering the above is merely a teaser of what can be expected from the Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre we can say with confidence that the accolades and praise they receive are well-deserved and un-questionably justified!
We have yet to experience better customer service than what was extended to us by the phenomenal Indaba staff.
Before proceeding, we would like to take this opportunity to personally thank the entire staff and management for allowing us the privilege to experience the magnificence that is The Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre.
AMBIANCE & ATMOSPHERE: 5-STARS
The hotel is warm, welcoming and vibrant with a constant lively buzz and great energy! The rustic yet modern décor gives you the sensation of being somewhere really special. While at the Mowana Day Spa you can’t help but feel relaxed and at ease. With soothing background music and a light aroma of incense and massage oils in the air you know you are in store for a pampering treat!
STAFF & MANAGEMENt: 5-STARS
Regardless of who you engage with, may it be the (very) gracious driver of their on-site shuttle service or management (who constantly check-in with you to make sure your stay is living up to your expectations) you can rest assured that you will receive nothing less the world-class customer service! The entire staff accompaniment is friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure your stay and experience is a memorable one!
CHIEFS BOMA & EPSOM TERRACE RESTAURANT: 5-STARS
All we can say is WOW, WOW, WOW! It is not often that we are left speechless but these are two phenomenal dining establishments! The Chiefs Boma & Epsom Terrace are truly so much more than just your average restaurant! Each is unique but both are true to their theme and purpose!
The Epsom Terrace offers stunning views while serving up a succulent breakfast buffet feast that’s beyond your imagination! You can expect to find all your standard breakfast items and more. Where they stand out is having a highly skilled chef on the grill preparing custom made omelettes, unbelievable fried eggs and pretty much anything you might fancy.
Their servings range from continental, to warm selections as well as cereals, fruit and health smoothies! On a personal note, we had our MINDS BLOWN by their futuristic and completely automated pancake machine! Simply push a button and a few seconds later out pops a perfectly cooked, scrumptious, fluffy pancake! It even tastes as though it was made by hand with love! Seriously everyone needs one of these bad boys in their lives!
The world-renowned Chief’s Boma is an African inspired buffet and is naturally set in an exquisitely decorated boma. This gives you the sense that you have been invited to partake in the most luxurious yet authentic tribal feast! The astonishing selection of tantalising meals is sure to satisfy the pickiest of eaters! Choose to build your own salad or select one of the divine curries to roast chicken and a smorgasbord of sweet treats. The entire experience is enhanced with the addition of live traditional music performances!
The Chief’s Boma is a must-do for locals, national visitors and abroad tourists. In other words, everyone should experience the awesomeness that is the Chief’s Boma!
DISHES WE TRIED:
Way too many to mention, but here are some of our highlights!
Epsom Terrace
Pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes
We can’t get these fluffy pillows of deliciousness out of our minds! Served with a selection of jams, honey and syrups, cinnamon sugar and fresh whipped cream of course.
Literally, we need to wipe the drool off my keyboard from thinking of these pancakes!
Pork and beef bangers, bacon, beans, crispy hashbrowns and omelettes
Heaven on a plate. You can’t go wrong with a classic and when it’s cooked by their master chefs it’s in a league of its own
(Don’t even ask how many times we went back for seconds, thirds and maybe fourths!)
Chocolate covered croissants, muffins and fresh fruit
Their freshly baked pastry and artisan breads are outstanding. Not to mention the magnificent selection of fresh fruits, yogourts and cereals.
The Chiefs Boma
Beef Trinchado, Oxtail and Lamb Curry
Possibly our three favourite dishes of all time and the fact that we could enjoy them all in one sitting was incredible. Each dish was rich and succulent in flavour! The various proteins were all tender to the tooth and cooked to perfection! The option to pair each dish with a wide selection of sides was the cherry on the top. Not to mention the range of starches which included, fluffy white and savoury rice, creamy mash or pap. The list just goes on and on…
Roast Leg of Lamb, Chicken and a selection of Steaks
Talk about a carnivorous paradise! Melt in your mouth lamb with mint sauce, juicy roast chicken and a selection of veggies. Steaks grilled to your liking. Some of their speciality game include Springbok, Impala, and Ostrich – to name a few.
Don’t worry the good old sirloin, rump and traditional boerewors were on offer as well!
Potato Salad, Cauliflower Cheese and Stir Fry
One of our favourite features was the build you own stir fry station! Pick and choose your favourite proteins, veggies, fruit, and sauces and have their master Chef prepare it right in front of you! There were just too many salads and side dishes to pick a favourite but what we can say is that we went back a few times for the potato salad and cauliflower cheese!
Dessert Station
Koeksisters, Peppermint Tart, Double Cheesecakes, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Brownies, Malva Pudding and Custard. Yip that was about all we could fit in our bellies (the first round) haha.
If you have a sweet tooth you will be in your happy place! Having said that it was a pleasant surprise to find that nothing was overly sweet allowing each delight to shine!
accommodation: 5-STARS
A perfect marriage of convenience, comfort and luxury would best describe the superb accommodation at Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre. It is clear that no cost has been spared and no detail left unattended. From the adorable rolled towel elephant on our bed to the side table chocolates.
Our suite included a large entertaining lounge area with a bar fridge and flat-screen smart TV. This led to a separate and huge elegant bedroom, that sported another large flatscreen smart TV as well as a stunning vanity/dressing table which was ideal for dolling up before heading out to the Chief’s Boma or (in our case) their legendary Gin School Experience.
The spacious bathroom boasts a gorgeous his and hers basin. A jacuzzi style bath and walk-in shower with a rain-style head!
The entire suite is air-conditioned and offers exquisite views of the gorgeous property. If we could give more than 5-stars we would without a doubt!
spa: 5-STARS
The Mowana Day Spa is entirely in a class of its own. On arrival, we were warmly greeted and shown around the large ‘pamper yourself on-site store’ which has an incredible selection of bath salts, scrubs, beauty products, robes, candles and more! We were led through their exquisite restaurant to their changing rooms where we found our personalised lockers that had our names on them. This was a super touch. The lockers included a luxurious robe and a pair of slippers (sizes confirmed when your booking is made). We got to relax in the comfortable seating area that overlooks the vista of the magnificent Magaliesberg Mountains. All the while sipping on a refreshing fruit juice.
We were then taken through their stunning ‘forest’ area with bubbling brooks, ponds and the most tranquil vibe. The treatment rooms are stunningly decorated, and either heated or cooled depending on your preference. After our rejuvenating treatments were over we were taken back to their stunning restaurant to enjoy a scrumptious High Tea that offered a massive selection of sweet and savoury delights!
Their staff’s knowledge of the treatments was exceptional! The Spa is laid out with separate manicure and pedicure areas, head and shoulder massage rooms, gorgeous showers and multiple single and couple spa rooms! The entire experience was ultra-luxurious!
TREATMENTS WE TRIED:
Before we jump into that, we must say that they have one of the most extensive menus of treatments we have seen to date. We highly recommend you have a look at their website to find the perfect package or treatment to suit your needs and budget.
Full Body
A gentle full body massage that is ideal for relaxation and tension relief. This was 60 minutes of pure bliss and left us feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and revitalised! There was an option for hot stones as well, but we decided to save that one for our next review (now that’s thinking ahead, right?)
Head, Neck and Shoulders
This amazing treatment purely focused on the head, neck and shoulder areas to relieve the tension in these commonly overstressed muscles (especially for those who spend most of their days on the computer).
Pamper Facial with Matsimela Aloe Vera Facial Range
What can we say, looking this good is hard work haha! But seriously this was one of the most relaxing facials we have had. The result left us not only looking years younger but feeling reinvigorated at the same time!
CONCLUSION
The Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre have outdone themselves in every sense. From their world-class customer services to the extravagant accommodation and breathtaking grounds, cutting edge amenities and facilities. Not forgetting their one of a kind Gin School, Mowana Day Spa and world-renowned mouthwatering restaurants.
Regardless if you are travelling for business or leisure we can say with the greatest of confidence that we HIGHLY recommend The Indaba Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre.
Our only criticism would be that once you have arrived, you will never want to leave! But when you have to leave, you will also leave with memories that will last a lifetime, or at least until your next visit!
On a closing note, we would like to make mention that regardless of which of the facilities you make use of, all COVID protocols are in place and adhered to at all times! Ensuring the safety of not only their guests but their amazing staff as well!
If you have not booked a stay or experience with them yet, we highly recommend you do so ASAP!
